Have you found renting to be stressful, expensive or frustrating? Do you want people to know about the realities of renting today? Have you got strong views on how our rental system needs to change? Would you appreciate training from media experts to help you be more confident in speaking to journalists? If the answer is yes, you should join our new renter spokesperson network!
One of the most powerful ways we can make our case for reforming the rental system is through the stories of people who are at the sharp end of the housing crisis. TV, radio, newspapers and online is where we need to show the wider public how important this is and win over the doubters.
Whether you have been evicted, are renting with children, got ripped off by a landlord or letting agent or have a landlord who won't do repairs, you can help add a human face to our campaigns.
We want to build a renter spokesperson network so that renters from all different backgrounds gain the skills and confidence to talk about their experiences and argue for change. We will run a free day of training for our renter spokespeople. If you can't make the training, you can still be in the network - we can send you some guidance on working with media and talk things through on the phone.
All you need to do if you want to be in the renter spokesperson network is fill in this form, and if you'd like to attend the training day (to take place December 2018 or January 2019 - date to be confirmed) please jot down 100-200 words on why you'd like to do this training.
